Because it is out in the open just dangling there, most people assume the penis is as simple as it seems. In reality, the penis is more than meets the eye. Even what we can see is more than you think. So let’s start there.

As you can see, the outer anatomy of the penis is fairly straight forward. There are only five (or six) parts that you need to know.

•Shaft – Most of the penile body, sensitive to touch, contains the urethra and 3 chambers of erectile tissue.

•Glans – The head of the penis, extremely sensitive, filled with nerve endings.

•Scrotum – Holds the testicles, will raise or lower to keep the testicles temperature controlled.

•Meatus – A fancy medical term meaning “natural orifice”. In this case, it is the opening of the urethra.

•Foreskin – A naturally occurring continuation of the skin covering the shaft of the penis. It connects just under the head (glans) of the penis. This is not visible in circumcised men.

•Perineum – Commonly know as the taint, it’s the area between your testicles and your anus.

Now we can move on to what’s inside. Inside is a much more complex affair.

The picture above is a really good illustration to show what is happening inside the male body. Let’s go down the list:

    • Ureter – The tube that carries urine (pee) from your kidneys to you bladder

    • Rectum – End of your digestive system, carries fecal matter (poo) out of the body.

    • Bladder – Holds urine

    • Prostate Gland – Essential for ejaculation, it is where all the seminal fluids collect to make semen

    • Vas Deferens – Tube that carries sperm from the testicles to the prostate gland

    • Urethra – Tube that carries urine from the bladder, and semen from the prostate to… where every they happen to be going outside the body

    • Testis (Testes, Testicles)– Produce sperm in tiny coiled chambers. Also produces tetosterone

    • Penis – Main purpose is to serve as a semen delivery system. It has three spongey chambers that fill with blood to become erect and more efficienly deliver semen. Also it is very fun to touch.

Now it’s time for WHAT HAPPENS WHEN…?

    • I become erect – The veins and capillaries open wide increasing blood flow dramatically to the penis filling the spongey chambers inside the penis. The blood vessels going out will constrict.

    • I stimulate my cock – You feel very good and everything become right with the world. Also, your semenial vesicles (little pumps that poduce the different fluids in your cum) produce their fluids and pump them into the prostate gland to prepare for ejaculation

    • I cum (ejaculate) – Your prostate will contract rapidly all the fluids that have been pumped in are forced out the body through your urethra at about 42.7 mph (68.6kmh)

    • After I cum – The blood that was in your penis will flush out, you will lose your erection. You will probably need to pee (urinate), since your swollen prosate is deflating and no longer pressing on your bladder. You will be sleepy. Normally there will be 2-30min period (refractory period) where you won’t be able to get erect again. This is normally short for us youngins but will increase as we get older.

    • I can’t get hard – If this is a one time/rare event you probrably are too stressed. Pulling allnighters and surviving off of Mountain Dew and Top Ramen is not really conducive to greath health. If this happens all the time you should probably see a doctor.
