Researchers Find Clue To How Some Control HIV Without Medication - Quickie

Researchers in the UK believe that they have identified what may be the reason some can control their HIV without medication. About 1 in 300 people infected with HIV are said to be "controllers". Until now, no one knew exactly how it worked.
Through some form of genetic sequencing, researchers have identified about 300 points that seem to be associated with immune response. Of those 300 points, five specific amino acids in the HLA-B protein were identified as having a key role.
The HLA-B protein plays a significant part in seeking out and marking alien or infected cells for destruction by T-Cells. The marking is done by injecting a homing beacon like peptides into the infected cells. All five of these amino acids are effective in the injection process.
